Deadline for nominations: March 30, 2025.

Description

AATT is pleased to announce that instructors of Turkic languages at U.S. and Canadian institutes of higher education may now nominate themselves or a colleague for the Erika Gilson Teaching Award. Thanks to a generous donation by the Gilson Family, this new award has now been increased to 1000 dollars. The recipients will be chosen from your nominations by the members of the Erika Gilson Teaching Award selection committee.

The Erika Gilson Teaching Awards are given annually to one instructor of Turkic languages based on their demonstration of the following:

  1. A commitment to teach their language --and to do so with distinction

  2. Excellent knowledge of the language and culture taught

  3. A passion for teaching

  4. The ability to convey excitement about learning a new language and culture

  5. The ability to impart knowledge while challenging students to delve more deeply into the subject matter.
